Marcella “Marcy” Nies, a beacon of enduring love and faith, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2024, at the age of 99. Born on May 13, 1924, in Milwaukee, Wi. Marcy’s life was a testament to the power of love, family, and unshakeable faith that guided her through nearly a century of cherished moments and memories.


Marcy was the beloved wife and best friend of the late Robert Nies, with whom she shared a lifetime of love and companionship. Together, they built a family founded on the principles of kindness, generosity and unwavering support. Marcy’s legacy is carried on through her children, Gary (Carole) Nies, Greg (Terri) Nies, Debbie (late Dale) Kumlien. Cherished grandchildren, Kristin Wroblewski, late Brian (Kim) Nies, Robert (Sheree) Nies, Eric Nies, late Daniel Nies, Marcie Kumlien, Robb Kumlien. Also, great grandchildren Jon Wroblewski, Sara Wroblewski, Mikel (Jesse) Nies, Tyler Nies, Nathan Nies, Madison Nies, Melanie Nies, Jordan Kumlien. Also survived by Arlo Nies and other great, great grandchildren. Further survived and remembered by dearest loving sister Joan (late Ken Eckert), special godchild Cheri Danowski and many other extended family nieces and nephews.


Marcy’s world revolved around her family, which was truly her everything. She created a warm and welcoming home where all were greeted with open arms and an open heart. Her life was a living example of her faith-filled existence, as she walked in grace and extended compassion to everyone she met. Marcy’s thoughtful nature was evident in the careful attention she paid to the needs and happiness of those around her.


As we bid farewell to Marcy, we hold tight to the memories she leaves behind. Her life was a beautiful reflection of the values she held dear, and her legacy will continue to be honored through the lives of those she loved so deeply. Marcy’s spirit characterized by love, faith and thoughtfulness, will forever be a guiding light for her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her.


In the quiet moments, we will find her in the stories retold, the traditions upheld, and the love that binds us all together. Marcy’s journey on this earth may have come to an end, but her influence will ripple through generations, a testament to a life filled with purpose and heart. Rest in peace, dear Marcy, until we meet again.


A visitation will be held at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church (6060 W. Loomis Rd., Greendale) on Monday, March 18 from 9:30 - 10:45 am with the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am. Interment to follow at St. Adalbert Cemetery.
