Robert A. Serak

Greendale - Beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away peacefully January 6, 2024 at the age of 78. Born on April 19, 1945, in South Milwaukee, to the late Anthony Serak and Frances (Hodas) Serak. Bob will be deeply missed by his wife, Jan Serak, with whom he shared 55 years of marriage and two children. Bob was an exceptional father to his sons Benjamin and Jeffrey (Annie). Bob always found time to coach Jeff’s sports teams and support Ben who has autism. He was blessed with two incredible grandchildren- Aria and Luke Serak – who were the delight of his life. Further survived by his sister Margaret (Bruce) Bowen and sister-in-law Pam (Tim) Graper. Preceding him in death was his brother, Daniel.

Bob graduated from South Milwaukee High School. He earned his B.S. in Civil Engineering from UW-Madison in 1969 and M.S. from Marquette University. He worked 51 years as a Civil Engineer, first for the WI State Dept. of Transportation 31 years, subsequently for Earth Tech, AE Com, and DAAR Engineering. He oversaw construction of major southeast WI roads and state highways: Marquette Interchange South Leg, Hoan Bridge North, major freeways, Lake Drive, S. 27th St. Viaduct, Wisconsin Ave. Viaduct, among countless others. His famous comment while driving around WI, “this was one of my projects”.

Memorials in his name may be made to WI FACETS (Wisconsin Family Assistance Center for Education, Training, and Support, Inc.), 600 W. Virginia St., Milwaukee, WI 53204.

Funeral services to honor Bob’s life will be held at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church (6060 W. Loomis Rd., Greendale) on Friday January 12th with visitation from 9:30-10:45AM followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11AM. Private burial at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery.
