Burrage, Ruth (Nee Vanderwerken). Age 88, was born to Eternal Life on April 29, 2016 in Boca Raton, FL. Ruth is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Lawrence, and her parents, Clarence and Blanche Vanderwerken. The only child of a carpenter and a homemaker from Cohoes, NY, she met Larry at a dance at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and they were married in 1950. Upon Larry's graduation, they moved to South Milwaukee, WI, where Ruth worked as a secretary at Bucyrus-Erie, and as a writer for the Voice-Journal. Ruth was known for her Christmas letters, as a hostess, and as a friend. Her many kindnesses will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Left to cherish her memory are her children Margery (Steven) Tamas of Powder Springs, GA, David of Arlington Heights, IL, Paul (Terri) of Boca Raton, FL, and Cathleen Skelton of Boca Raton, FL; her 8 grandchildren, and her great-granddaughter. The family will be receiving guests at the Funeral Home on Saturday, July 23 from 3-4:30PM followed by a memorial service in her honor beginning at 4:30PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Ruth's name to Divine Mercy Church in So. Milwaukee or to the Alzheimer's Association (www.alz.org).
