Tanin, Ananij (known by many as "Al") Passed away peacefully on December 7th, 2015. Beloved husband of the late Natalie (Nee Holowinsky) Tanin. Loving father of Gary Tanin (Chris Pacia), Maria Tanin (Bryan Gover), the late Ihor "E" Tanin and Mark (Julie) Tanin. Grandpa Ananij "Pumpa" of Jason, Lisa, Nick, Elliot, Taviahna and Sitori. Dearest brother of the late Natalia. Further survived by other relatives and friends. Ananij spent the majority of his career as a draftsman with Allis-Chalmers in West Allis, then briefly with General Dynamics Electric Boat in Groton, CT. He had a passionate interest in expressing himself through public speaking and journalism. He was a contributing writer for a Ukrainian language newspaper and an active member of the Milwaukee Press Club. He was also very engaged in the interests of the Ukrainian American community through his involvement with the Ukrainian Congress Committee of America and through regular appearances on a local Ukrainian radio program. His efforts were highlighted by an opportunity to meet with President Ford on Ukrainian issues. Ananij always dreamed of a Ukraine free of Soviet rule, and lived to see that dream come true. He was a generous man and loved his children and grandchildren greatly and took tremendous pride in watching them grow. He loved America and the opportunity this country provided for his family, as so often one might hear him say in earnest, "God Bless America!"
