Barbara L. Acker, 85, Milwaukee, passed away on Thursday, October 23, 2025. She was born on September 30, 1940, to the late Edward and Sophie (Czerwicznik) Ladwig in Milwaukee. Barbara was united in marriage to her grade school crush, William Acker, he passed away in 1983. She was not only a beautician, but she taught beauty school attendees before she took over Ludy’s Steakhouse. Barb owned and operated the steakhouse after her father passed away, selling after 50 years in the business. She retired from Milwaukee Public School as a Food Service Manager, cooking food for one of the largest schools in the district. Barb always remembered a holiday by sending greeting cards adorned with her beautiful penmanship to celebrate the day. She always made sure the card was decorated with stickers and the appropriate stamp to match the occasion.
Barb is survived by her daughters Celeste Mullaley and Cheryl (Gary) Harrison, step-sons Billy (Jodie), Brian and Bruce (Diane) Acker, adopted son Kelley DeLisle, granddaughters Shauna Acker and Kayla White, great-granddaughter Destiny, great-great-grandchildren Joey and Faith as well as nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband William Acker, daughter Colleen (Rick) Janda and sister Kathleen (Bill) Mattice.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 30, 2025, at Mt. Olivet Cemetery Chapel (3801 W Morgan Ave., Milwaukee) from 11:00 AM until the time of service at 11:30 AM. Burial will take place in Mt. Olivet Cemetery and Mausoleum.
