Obituary

Listen to Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of Barbara K. Mlot (nee Kostecka) announces her peaceful passing on October 24, 2026, at the age of 88.

She was reunited with Bronislaw “Bruno” Mlot, her beloved husband of 42 years. Loving mother of Adam (Edyta) Mlot and Thomas (Amy) Mlot. Cherished grandmother of Liam, Rowan, and Jacob Mlot. She was a much-loved “Ciocia” to Susan Mlot, Christine Mlot, Andrzej Kaczmarski, and Jon, Lucia, and Meg Whalen. Further survived by dear nieces and nephews, along with other relatives and friends in the United States and Poland.

Barbara was born on December 15, 1937, in Pruszcz Pomorski, Poland, and immigrated to the United States in 1963. She was a wonderful woman who remained deeply proud of her Polish heritage and treasured her family and the connections she maintained on both sides of the ocean.

Barbara was a devoted mother and an extraordinary grandmother whose greatest joy in life was her family. She loved deeply, gave generously, and took immense pride in her children and grandchildren. Her catholic faith and Polish heritage were an important part of who she was, and she proudly embraced the traditions, values, and family connections that came with it. She lovingly shared her heritage through her Polish cooking, especially when making pierogi and paczki for her family. Barbara's love for her family, her strong sense of tradition, and the memories she created will be cherished for generations to come.

She was a long standing and active member of Polonia Sport Club in Franklin. She also had a love for gardening, taking great pride in growing beautiful dahlias and tomatoes that she delighted in sharing with others.

A memorial gathering will be held at SS Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church, 2427 S. 15th St., Milwaukee, on Saturday, November 14th from 9:30-10:45AM with the Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11AM. Private interment at St. Adalbert Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Barbara’s name would be appreciated to SS Cyril & Methodius Parish.

Barbara will be dearly missed by her loving children, grandchildren, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
