Bernadette A. Zych “Betty”

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved matriarch, Betty Zych, born to eternal life at the age of 92. She left us peacefully on June 24, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. Cherished wife of the late Norman Zych whom she shared 60 years of marriage. Loving mother of Katherine, Caroline, Joseph, James and Julie. Devoted sister to Auriel (Kachikis). Further survived by grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

A strong, independent woman, Betty was the glue that held generations together and the soul of every family gathering. She worked for over 30 years at Borden Dairy, a reflection of her dedication and work ethic.

At home, she filled her days with the things she loved most: hunting for treasures at rummage sales, lovingly refinishing antiques, sewing, crocheting and sharing a glass of Rose’ wine with friends. She especially treasured road trips, often traveling to New York City to see Broadway shows. Her kitchen was always warm with the smell of something delicious, especially during the holiday season made extra special by her famous Christmas cookies. All were always welcome at her table. She leaves behind a legacy of strength, laughter, resilience, and countless memories. Her easy-going personality, welcoming spirit, and sense of humor will live on through all who had the honor of knowing her.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday July 1, 2025 (Betty’s birthday) at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church (3160 S. 63rd St. Milwaukee, WI) at 11:00 AM. Visitation will be held Tuesday at the church from 9:30 AM until time of Mass. Private burial at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery at Union Grove (21731 Spring St. Union Grove, WI.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers you celebrate Betty’s life by enjoying a glass of red wine, stopping at a neighborhood rummage sale or with monetary gifts to Forest Haven Assisted Living Facility in her name. (400 Martin Dr. Fredonia, WI 53021)

Special thanks to the caregivers from Forest Haven. We feel incredibly fortunate to have found your community for our mom. The warmth, patience, and professionalism you consistently showed made a world of difference—not just for her, but for our whole family. We are thankful and forever grateful for the comfort, dignity, and peace you brought into our daily life. The family would also like to extend our gratitude to the dedicated team at Allay Home & Hospice for their exceptional care.
