Baumgartner Carl L. Born to life on December 11, 1922 and after a brief illness, was born to eternal life on July 5, 2014 at the age of 91. He is survived by his wife, Doris (nee Gulbronson) after over 61 years of marriage. Together they raised three children: Joan (Eduards) Vucins, James (Jean) Baumgartner and Paul (Dawn) Baumgartner. He was blessed with 7 grandchildren Todd (Maria) Vucins, Mara (Robert) Brummond, and Phillip Vucins, Kelly (James) Beier, Kevin (fiance Sarah Ellefson) Baumgartner, Katie (fiance Todd Krupa) Baumgartner and Craig Baumgartner, and 3 great grandchildren Carlisle Vucins and twins Anna and Reese Beier. Also survived by nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his sister Jean (Victor) Guebard and brother Jack (Mary) Baumgartner. Carl served his country with honor in the Army Air Corps during WWII in the Pacific Theater and later in the 32nd artillery division of the Wisconsin National Guard. He retired after 30 years of service with Howmet/Crucible Steel Castings Co. Carl was a moral compass for his family who benefited from his carpentry and mechanical skills and many interests. Still painting at age 90, he left behind many scenes of Door County, his favorite place on earth. At his request, a private family memorial service will be held at his beloved Baileywick and a private interment at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial cemetery.
