A loyal and joyful spirit, she made everyone around her feel safe, comfortable, and truly special.
Carol Duve, 78, of Waterford, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on October 30, 2026 surrounded by her loving family. Carol was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. A loyal and joyful spirit, she made everyone around her feel safe, comfortable, and truly special. A "lake girl" at heart, she found deep peace near the water. Her life took a meaningful turn when she married a farm boy, working side-by-side with her husband and love of her life to milk cows and keep the farm running, proving time and again that she never shied away from hard work. She held a lifelong passion for agriculture, always finding joy in visiting local farmers markets and county fairs.
Carol brought warmth and vibrant energy wherever she went. She loved shopping, was a natural fashionista, and proudly ran for Miss Wind Lake in 1965. Always ready for fun, whether going line dancing or taking a dare to dance on the table, she embraced life with enthusiasm. Known for her easy conversation, calming presence, and classic Wisconsin charm (complete with a friendly "eh" after most sentences), she effortlessly made friends with everyone she met.
Above all, Carol was a beloved figure who valued presence over busy-ness. She was a creative, crafty person and a good decorator who made every house feel like a home. Known for baking amazing rolls for family dinners, she was an animal lover, a thoughtful listener, and a steady foundation for her family. She was the best card giver who never missed a birthday or honoring an important day, and she never missed a chance to see you and give a hug. Whether making a mean batch of rice krispie treats or reminding us in her last days that "everyone has a path," her focus was always on spending quality time together and giving her children every opportunity she didn't have herself. She lived vicariously through her children and her children’s children and looked back on a life filled with laughter, love, and fun.
Carol is survived by her husband, Melvin Duve; her sons Robert Duve (Carole), Wayne Duve (Vivienne), and daughter Tammy McCulloch (Mike); and her beloved grandchildren, Nathan (Kelsey), Kaitlyn, Robert Jr., Justin, Kayla, Teagan, and Caden; and her cherished grandchildren Adaline and Elodie. She is preceded in death by parents Donald and Vera Hall and her siblings Donna Lail, Ron Hall, and Jill Obremski.
