Carol Mae St. Marie

Carol Mae St. Marie, passed away peacefully on December 20, 2025, at the age of 92. Born on May 28, 1933, to Gilbert Yake and Leonore (Woltman) Yake in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin.

Carol was predeceased by her husband, Donald St. Marie; her son, Steven Scott Hart; her daughter, Cheryl Lynn (Hart) Gorney; and her sister, Muriel (Yake) Nelson. Carol is survived by her daughter, Debra Joy Hart, and her husband, Walt Schneider; cherished brother, Richard Yake, and his wife, Laurie; and Cheryl’s husband, Darryl Gorney. Carol was a grandmother to Christopher Lee and Amber Krajewski; Bryan Scott and Jeanette Krajewski; Erik Scott and Christy (Czarnyszka) Esposito; and seven great-grandchildren; who were all loved more than they knew, and always in her thoughts.

Her heart belonged to her late husband, Donald St. Marie; when they first met, she stated, "it was love at first sight". Carol and Don shared the love and joys of travel and the comfort of companionship. Together, they traversed the globe, creating a collection of memories that spanned continents and decades. Carol's hands were rarely still, as she found solace and joy in painting ceramics, crocheting, and cross-stitching. Her creative works were not just hobbies but expressions of love that she shared with all those around her.

Carol graduated from Bay View High School in 1950. Her professional journey ended at the IRS, where she served as a dedicated secretary. Her meticulous nature and friendly demeanor made her a beloved colleague and a pillar within her professional community.

Carol could be described (by all who knew her) as loving, kind, creative, and talkative. Carol's influence extended far beyond her immediate family. Her warmth was a comfort to friends and strangers alike. As we say goodbye to Carol Mae St. Marie, we celebrate a life lived with purpose and passion.

A memorial service will be held at Max A Sass & Sons – West Wood Chapel (Muskego, WI) on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, from 1:00 PM until the time of service at 2:30 PM.
