Carolyn "Cissy" Effinger

Carolyn "Cissy" Effinger, born on June 27, 1958, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her. She passed away peacefully on April 30, 2026, in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin. Carolyn was a beacon of kindness, laughter, and unwavering love—a soul so vibrant, she could light up any room with her fun-spirited nature and heartfelt presence.

From the moment you met Carolyn, you knew you were in the company of someone extraordinary. She was always there when you needed her most, a steadfast friend whose generosity of spirit knew no bounds. Whether she was cracking a hilarious joke to lift your spirits or offering a shoulder to lean on, Carolyn embodied the true meaning of friendship and family.

Her life was richly filled with the passions she loved. An avid tennis player, she found joy in the swift rhythm of the game and relished moments spent on the court. Music was another of her great loves—she delighted in attending concerts, where the melodies inspired her soul and brought her happiness. Yet, above all, Carolyn treasured her most important role: being a mom. Her pride and joy was her beloved son, Sean, whose presence in her life brought her immeasurable happiness. The bond they shared was a testament to Carolyn’s loving and nurturing nature.

Carolyn’s heart expanded even further with the arrival of her granddaughter Ongella, whose light and laughter brought additional joy to her days. She was also a cherished sister to Cindi (Ed) and a beloved aunt to Shannon. Her best friend, Marie, along with dear friends Brandy, Louis, and Denice, formed a circle of love and support that highlighted the many meaningful relationships Carolyn cultivated throughout her life.

Though her parents, Barbara and Robert, and other relatives and friends have preceded her in death, Carolyn’s spirit lives on vibrantly in the hearts of those she leaves behind. The loss is profound, and she will be missed tremendously by all who were lucky enough to call her family and friend.

Carolyn "Cissy" Effinger was more than a beloved mother, sister, friend, or tennis player. She was a shining example of kindness and joy, a woman who made the world a better place simply by being herself. As we remember Carolyn, we hold on tightly to the laughter she sparked, the love she gave so freely, and the memories that will forever illuminate our lives. Her legacy is one of love, grace, and a spirit that will never be forgotten.
