Cecile C. Sommers (Nee Kalicki) Born to Eternal Rest on Monday, March 11, 2013. She will now join her beloved husband in heaven. Cecile was born in Milwaukee and attended schools there. She married Arthur Sommers on June 17, 1947 in Milwaukee. For a short time, they lived in Houston, Texas, then in Hales Corners and Franklin, Wisconsin. When her husband passed away, she moved to Burlington. She and her husband were very involved in humane work. They took in animals that were abused, homeless, etc. They found good homes for these animals so they could have a new happy life. She continued to do this work and received an "honorary degree" from the "Fire Hydrant Seven" at the Sammy Award Dinner. Cecile is survived by a sister Sofia Fisher and her sister in law Mildred Nelson. Fond aunt of Sandra Loebel and dearest friend of Richard Kiekinbush and Judy Klein. She also leaves nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother Ralph and an infant sister Christine. Cecile worked for the Southwest Bloodbank while living in Houston and for Avis Rent a Car in Milwaukee as a sales promotion manager. She was past President of the Woman's Traffic Club and was a board member with the Friends of Animals, Inc. She and her husband were great animal lovers.
