In Loving Memory of Chad Jan Tisonik
October 15, 1965 – July 5, 2026
It is with profound sadness and deep gratitude for a life well lived that we announce the passing of Chad Jan Tisonik, who passed away peacefully on July 5, 2026, at the age of 60.
Born on October 15, 1965, in Greendale, Wisconsin, Chad spent most of his life as a proud resident of Muskego, Wisconsin, while also cherishing his winters in Naples, Florida. Wherever he was, he built lasting friendships, shared his wisdom generously, and made everyone around him feel valued.
Chad was the beloved husband and best friend of Wendy Tisonik, with whom he built a life centered on love, faith, and family. He was a devoted father to Jessica (Jake) McCann, Ian Tisonik, and Allison Tisonik, and his greatest joy was becoming "Papa" to his cherished granddaughter, Charlotte McCann. Nothing mattered more to Chad than ensuring his family was loved, supported, and taken care of.
He is survived by his loving mother, Janice Elizabeth Tisonik (Klechowitz); his sisters, Caren (Kevin) Messman and Christy (Kurt) Matschull; his sister-in-law, Lorrie Tisonik; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and countless friends. He rejoins eternally with his father, Carl F Tisonik, his brother, Carl J Tisonik, his Father in law Ian Scott and his mother in law Phyllis Scott.
Chad's professional career reflected his passion for serving others and protecting people in the workplace. He was a respected leader in occupational safety and health, serving as a Past President of HNI, Past President of the Wisconsin Safety Council, and Chairman of the WSC Occupational Safety Council. He was a Certified OSHA and DOT Trainer and earned recognition as a Certified Master Level Hazard Control Manager. His dedication to service was recognized with the Spirit of Silver Lining Award for his volunteer work with the Hope Center, along with multiple honors from Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), including the Seven Seals Award and the Patriot Award, recognizing his support of members of the National Guard and Reserve.
A proud graduate of the University of Wisconsin–Whitewater, Chad earned a Bachelor of Science in Education, carrying his love of teaching throughout his career by mentoring, coaching, and inspiring others.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Chad will be remembered for the life he lived outside of work. He was an avid golfer who looked forward to every round on the course, coaching youth sports, whipping up salsa in large quantities, escaping Wisconsin winters for sunny days in Florida, and never missed a nice day on the lake. He was famous among family and friends for hosting annual 3rd of July fireworks displays and smoked meat gatherings that always brought people together around good food and even better conversation.
Those who knew Chad knew him as the "Wizard of Advice"—someone who always had thoughtful guidance, practical wisdom, and a remarkable ability to help others see the bigger picture. Whether offering financial advice, lending a helping hand, or simply listening, Chad gave himself without expecting anything in return. He was humble, selfless, deeply patriotic, devoted to his church, and unwavering in his commitment to helping others. More than anything, Chad simply wanted everyone around him to be okay.
His legacy is not measured by awards or titles, but by the countless lives he touched through his generosity, integrity, compassion, and unwavering love for his family and friends. He leaves behind a legacy of leadership, faith, service, and kindness that will continue to inspire all who knew him.
Funeral Services
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, from 8:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. at St. Leonard Catholic Church in Muskego, Wisconsin. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30 a.m.
Following the Mass, Chad will be entombed at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Milwaukee.
Family and friends are warmly invited to continue celebrating Chad's life with BBQ, “Chad’s classic cocktails”, and storytelling at the Tisonik home following the burial.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages everyone to honor Chad's memory by supporting a charitable organization or someone in need, hugging and spending time with loved ones, lending a helping hand, or enjoying a round of golf in his honor. Chad believed life was about taking care of one another, and there is no greater tribute than carrying that spirit forward.
"Well done, good and faithful servant."
