Cheryl Schweitzer, a beacon of love and selflessness, passed away peacefully on December 11, 2025, at her residence in Oak Creek, Wisconsin, surrounded by the warmth of her family. Born on September 16, 1947, in West Allis, Wisconsin, Cheryl's life was a testament to the power of love and the importance of family.

Cheryl's journey began in the heart of West Allis, where she grew up as a cherished member of a vibrant family. Her formative years were spent at Lane Jr High, where she forged a lifelong friendship with Diane Loch, a bond that would stand the test of time. In 1965, Cheryl graduated from West Allis Nathan Hale High School, a milestone that paved the way for her future endeavors. Her passion for beauty and creativity led her to earn a cosmetology certification, and she began her career with an internship at Jack Fredrick’s beauty salon.

Her professional life was a reflection of her dedication to her craft, as she went on to inspire countless students as a Cosmetology Instructor at the Advanced Institute of Hair Design, which later became known as Eric of Norway Beauty School. Cheryl's commitment to education and her students' success continued until her retirement from Gateway Tech College, leaving behind a legacy of excellence and mentorship.

Cheryl's life was deeply rooted in her Christian faith, a guiding light that shone brightly through her actions and her unwavering commitment to her family. She was the beloved wife of John "Jack" Schweitzer for 24 years, a loving union that brought joy and happiness to their lives. A devoted mother, she shared her heart with her children, Rob Baxter, Philanthropist, and Jennifer (Joe) Yaeger, and step-children, Cliff (Cindi) Schweitzer, Connie (Don) Nogalski, Cathy (Bill) Blackwell, Carol (John) Iverson, and Cheryl (Mike) Klump. Her nurturing spirit extended to her grandchildren, Alexis (Colton) Posbrig, Abigail (fiancé Dylan Brown) Yaeger, Anthony Yaeger, and to her cherished great-granddaughter, Lainey Mae Posbrig, along with 17 step great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, her beloved Oscar, other relatives, and friends.

Cheryl's family circle included her siblings, the late David (Karen) Schweitzer, Bill (the late Susan) Schweitzer, Lois (the late Ken) Spencer, the late Richard (Kathy) Schweitzer, Eugene (MaryJo) Schweitzer, Roy Schweitzer, and Karen (Brian) Lade, who will forever hold her memory dear. Her life was also enriched by the love of her step grandchildren, Scott (Jenny) Howard, Amy (Trey) Barkley, Nicole Howard, the late Stephanie (Cory) Wasniewski, Cory (Michelle) Iverson, Kathy (Bill) Gurney, Donald J. (Michelle) Nogalski, Michelle (Mike) Grey, Dylan Nogalski, and Emily Blackwell.

Cheryl's love for her family was matched only by her love for the sun and her talent for painting, a hobby that brought her immense joy and allowed her to express her innermost feelings. She was an exceptional cook, always eager to gather her loved ones around the table for a meal prepared with love. Her favorite place was the family home in Arkansas, a sanctuary where memories were made and cherished.

Those who knew Cheryl will remember her as a loving, selfless, and thoughtful individual whose presence brought comfort and happiness to all. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of those she touched, and her spirit will continue to inspire acts of kindness and love.

As we bid farewell to Cheryl Schweitzer, we celebrate a life beautifully lived and a soul that will forever be remembered. May she rest in peace, knowing that her love will continue to flourish in the lives of those she has left behind.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Please check back for updates.
