Cynthia “Cindy” Louise Long passed away on November 12, 2025, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Born on February 5, 1949, in Jeffersonville, Indiana, she lived a life marked by quiet joys and meaningful connections. Kind, loving, and selfless, her supportive presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Cindy was the daughter of Mary and LW Long, both of whom preceded her in death. She was also predeceased by her son, Scott Scherschel. Her memory lives on through her children, Theresa (Scherschel) Grove and Brian Scherschel; her son-in-law, Trevor Grove; her daughter-in-law, Candela Marini; and her beloved grandchildren, Katherine and Nicholas Grove. Cindy is also survived by her siblings, Martha Deckard, Janice Myrick, Rebecca Peterson, Thomas Long, David Long, and Barbara Long.
Cindy’s career began as a dental hygienist, but with characteristic determination, she later returned to school to pursue a degree in computer science. She worked as a programmer and eventually as a database analyst until her retirement. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, and painting. On weekends, she loved watching football and sharing lunch with her children and grandchildren. Whenever she was able, she found great joy in spending time with her siblings and extended family.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to the MACC Fund, The Pulmonary Hypertension Association, or The Hunger Task Force.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, November 20th, at Max A. Sass Mission Hills, 8910 W. Drexel Ave. Franklin, WI 53132 from 4:00 pm until the time of service at 5:30 pm.
