Daniel Friberg, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed peacefully on Friday, October 31, 2025 surrounded by his family’s love. Fittingly, he took his last walk in the woods before passing—a place where he always found peace and joy.

Dan was born in West Allis to Elden and Mercedes Friberg. He lived a life full of laughter, generosity, and stories that could make anyone smile or eyeroll.

After proudly serving his country in the U.S. Marine Corps, he carried with him a deep sense of pride, honor, and loyalty that defined him. After the Marine Corps he worked as a construction laborer while attending the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1976. Later Dan worked for the US Postal Service and retired with 25 years of service.

Dan met his wife Linda in high school and they were married for 52 years. Their love was built on laughter, patience, and adventure. In 1977 their only child, Sarah was born. She was his pride and joy. They had a special bond throughout life--fishing, mushroom hunting, attending Rolling Stones’ concerts, and pulling pranks on each other. They even worked together at USPS for twelve years.

Dan loved being a grandpa to Dylan and Mya Robertson. Because they lived next door, he became a father figure to them and was able to share life’s little and big moments with them. He was beyond proud of the adults they have become.

Dan had a deep love for the outdoors. Whether he was fishing, bow or gun hunting, or bike riding, he was happiest under the open sky. He had a special bond with his dogs, especially his loyal Border Collie, Molly, who was never far from his side.

He was a natural storyteller—sharing tales from his childhood with five siblings, adventures in the woods, his fish stories or just making people laugh with his quick wit and charm. Dan had a huge heart and compassion for others. He never hesitated to help someone in need and he had a way of making everyone feel welcome and cared for. He loved people, good conversation, and friendly competitive games of cribbage. Dan had a gift for making connections, and his warmth and humor could light up any room.

Dan’s legacy lives on in the stories he shared, the laughter he spread, and the love he gave so freely. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by everyone lucky enough to have known him.

Dan is survived by his loving wife, Linda, his beloved daughter, Sarah Robertson, and his greatly loved grandchildren, Dylan and Mya Robertson. He also leaves behind his cherished siblings, Greg (Cheri), Rob (Cheryl), Gene (Debbie), Rose (Tom) Kinsella, Joseph, as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss him dearly.

A visitation will be held Saturday, November 8, at Max A. Sass & Sons, 8910 W. Drexel Ave., Franklin, from 1–3 p.m., with a service at 3 pm.
