Daniel Joseph Helgert, affectionately known as Dan to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on October 30, 2025, at the age of 82. Born on September 1, 1943, Dan lived a life marked by devotion to his family, service to his country, and a passion for life's simple pleasures.
Dan was a loving husband to his late wife, Stephanie, with whom he shared 51 years of marriage until her passing. Together, they navigated life's joys and challenges, leaving a legacy of love and commitment. He is survived by his cherished children, Mary Jo (Rob) Danek, Julie (Dean Nemeth) Helgert, and Anne (Kevin) Friedrich, who will forever hold dear the lessons and memories their father imparted.

His pride and legacy continued to grow with the addition of great-grandchildren Khai, Carter, Nora, Kolton, Karley, Levi, and Zora, who brought him immeasurable happiness.
Preceded in death by his beloved wife Stephanie, his parents Eugenie and Merrill Helgert, his sister Helen (the late Russ) Isferding, and brother Joe (Sharon) Helgert, Dan is also remembered by his brother Tom (Dawn) Helgert and sister Patsy (the late Gary) Stricker. After his military service, he embarked on a successful career at Stack and Store Systems and later pursued entrepreneurial endeavors, including owning a costume jewelry store named the Pirates' Chest with his wife Stephanie.
A man of faith, Dan was a devoted Christian who lived his beliefs through his actions and interactions with others. He was a beacon of light in his community, always ready to lend a helping hand or a friendly smile.
Dan's interests were as varied as they were enthusiastic. An avid golfer, he relished the opportunity to spend a day on the green under the sun. He was equally fond of the excitement and camaraderie found at the casino. In their retirement years, Dan and Stephanie enjoyed the warmth and community of Sun Lakes, AZ, where they made countless memories.
Described by those who knew him as handy, friendly, and creative, Dan was a man who could fix almost anything, build beautiful memories, and foster friendships that lasted a lifetime. His creative spirit was reflected in the way he approached life, always finding unique solutions and spreading joy through his imaginative endeavors.
