Darlene M. Karpinski (nee Wiersgalla) was born into eternal life on Sunday, May 24, 2026 in Milwaukee at the age of 88. Darlene was born on November 7, 1937, and lived a life filled with kindness, laughter, and a deep devotion to her family.
Darlene retired 30 years ago from a career with Roundy’s in the accounting department. She was blessed with a long retirement full of annual trips to Las Vegas and summers at the cottage in Beaver Dam. She loved to crochet, garden, assemble jigsaw puzzles and play games like Royal Rummy and Cover-Up with her family. Bingo was also a favorite pastime through the years. Her storytelling was captivating revolving around her warm memories of her grandchildren and other family members, her many jobs and friends from all corners of her life. We will greatly miss hearing all of them.
Darlene is survived by her three children, Doreen, Kevin (Maribeth), and Nadine (Don) Mitchen. She was a loving grandmother to Emily Mitchen, Jennifer Mitchen, and Steph Karpinski. Each of them held a special place in her heart. She was preceded in death by her husband Harry, parents Robert and Evelyn Wiersgalla and granddaughter Amanda Karpinski.
Visitation will take place at Max A. Sass & Sons, 4747 S. 60th St., Greenfield on Tuesday, June 2 from 10 am – 12 pm. Service at noon then proceeding to St. Adalbert Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please donate to support the mission of her favorite saint at the St. Thérèse Society of the Little Flower (www.littleflower.org) or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (www.stjude.org).
In her years of retirement Darlene enjoyed a relaxed life so come as you are in casual wear.
