David E. Palkowski, 78, of West Bend, passed away on Thursday, October 22, 2026. David was born on June 7, 1948, in Milwaukee to the late Erwin and Frances (McLaughlin) Palkowski. He proudly served as a member of the Air Force Reserves. On September 28, 1974, he married the love of his life, Linda Pavwoski, in Caledonia, beginning a marriage filled with love, laughter, and countless memories.
David was the ultimate Mr. Fix-it. If something was broken, he was the man to call. He was always willing to lend a hand, never hesitating to help family, friends, or anyone in need. He approached life with patience, a positive attitude, and a remarkable ability to look on the bright side. David had a caring heart, a wonderful sense of humor, and a playful, joking nature that made being around him a joy. He had a way of making people laugh and reminding them not to take life too seriously.
David enjoyed NASCAR, playing computer card games, and talking WWE with his dear friend Tom, with whom he shared a 30-year friendship. Tuesdays were special, too, as he enjoyed getting together with his fellow retirees at the RexNord retirees club.
David was also a master of the grill, known for making the best wings and ribs around. His talent for grilling was matched only by the joy he found in sharing good food and good company. Whether he was firing up the grill, telling a joke, or lending a helping hand, David made ordinary moments memorable.
David was a devoted family man and a proud Papa. His daughter, Nicole, was the apple of his eye, and his grandsons, Hawkins, Waylen, and Caten, were his pride and joy. He treasured every opportunity to be part of their lives and was a familiar face at their sporting events, proudly serving as their cameraman with his camcorder always ready. He wanted to capture every moment, every play, and every memory. His love for his grandsons was evident in the time he spent cheering them on and supporting them in all they did. David's family was his greatest accomplishment.
David is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Linda; his daughter, Nicole (Chris) Labinski; his beloved grandsons, Hawkins, Waylen, and Caten; his sister, Mary (Norm) Bircher; his mother-in-law, Delphine Pavwoski; his brother-in-law, David (Laura) Pavwoski. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends who will miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents, Erwin and Frances Palkowski; his sister, Joan (Chuck) Schuster; and his father-in-law, Robert Pavwoski.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 6, 2026, at MAX A. SASS GREENRIDGE CHAPEL, (4747 S. 60th Street, Greenfield), from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service at 6:00 p.m. Burial will take place at Southern Wisconsin Memorial Park in Union Grove.
