Dean Patrick Sabatini, passed away on May 24, 2026 at the age of 75, leaving behind a lifetime of stories, laughter, and unforgettable memories.
Born on August 20, 1950, in Chicago, Illinois, Dean grew up in Flossmoor, where he developed a lifelong love for Chicago sports — especially the Chicago Bears and Chicago White Sox. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era, carrying that pride of service throughout his entire life.
Dean built a long and successful career in automotive finance management, with many years spent at Don Miller Pontiac, a place that became far more than a job for him. It was where his personality thrived. While he was talented at his profession, the people around him always mattered more than titles or accomplishments. Dean had a rare gift for connection. Whether you knew him for five minutes or fifty years, he had a way of making you feel welcomed, important, and like you belonged in his world.
Dean had an energy that pulled people in. He could strike up a conversation anywhere — at a restaurant, on the golf course, at the gas station, or standing in line at Culver’s — and somehow leave people laughing minutes later. His charisma, humor, storytelling, and larger-than-life personality left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
Dean loved life deeply and found joy in the little things: driving his boat on Lake Monona, spending time near the water in St. Petersburg, Florida, cheering on his teams, eating Rocky Rococo pizza and Culver’s, and spending time with his treasured basset hounds. He was an avid golfer who cherished his time on the course, although those closest to him knew full well that his mood for the rest of the day could occasionally depend on what number was written on the scorecard.
More than anything, Dean loved his family.
He is survived by his children: Christa Sabatini (Todd Bell) and granddaughter Vivienne; Jennifer Sabatini and grandson Anthony Esparza; Pamela Hart (Dale Hart) and grandchildren Brandon Hart (Kristine Hart), Nathan Hart, and Abbie Hart, along with great-grandchildren Nash and Wrenley; and Anthony Sabatini (Kristina Sabatini) and granddaughter Giana.
Dean shared much of his life with strong and loving women who stood beside him through different chapters of his journey. He was previously married to Lillian Sabatini, the mother of his children, with whom he built the foundation of his family and many lifelong memories. He later shared many meaningful years with Kay Williams, whose companionship brought adventure, laughter, friendship, and love. In his later years, Dean also carried a deep love for his late fiancée, Merrillee Miller. Their time together in Florida, brought him great happiness, and her passing profoundly affected him.
He is also survived by his brothers, Raoul Sabatini Jr. and Mark Sabatini, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, friends, former coworkers, golf buddies, and countless people whose lives were touched by his kindness, humor, and unforgettable spirit.
He was preceded in death by his father, Raoul Sabatini; mother, Betty Anne Sabatini; and sister, Dorian who he will now join in heaven.
To know Dean was to experience someone who brought life into every room he entered. He loved connecting with people and finding moments of joy and humor — even during life’s hardest seasons. His family will remember him for his quick wit, intelligence, stubborn moments, enormous generosity, protective nature, and the way he could make people feel deeply cared for.
He will forever be loved and in the hearts of those lucky enough to know him. He will be deeply missed.
