Dennis L. Gehring passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on August 14, 2026, at the age of 85. Beloved father of Georgette Gehring and Robin (Steve) Wendlick. Proud grandpa of Jennifer, Jacob, Riley, and Hailey Wendlick. Dear brother of Lucille Martin and Virgene “Petie” Weidenfeller. Preceded in death by his parents, George and Georgia; and siblings, Liane “Tootie" Lawlor,” Jack, and Allen. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.

Dennis retired from Continental Grain Company and Nidera after 38 years of employment as a weigher.      

Dennis was quick-witted and had a wonderful sense of humor, always ready with a joke or a funny story. He loved to travel, gamble, a good card game, and cherished spending time with family and friends, especially his four grandchildren. He enjoyed playing the accordion, listening to music, a full plate of barbecue, and finding a “great deal”—and he never passed up the chance to enjoy a happy hour. Dennis will be fondly remembered for his fun-loving spirit, humor, and the many memories he created with those he loved.

Visitation will be held at Max A. Sass & Sons-South Shore Chapel, 1314 Manitoba Ave., South Milwaukee, on Friday, August 28, from 11:00 AM until the time of service at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park.
