Dennis Richard Ludka, born on August 29, 1946, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully at home on March 1, 2026, in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, surrounded by his loving wife, Gail. He lived a life marked by service, dedication, the deep love of family.
Dennis served in the United States Navy during Vietnam War, demonstrating his commitment to his country. After his military service, he enjoyed a long and distinguished career with the Milwaukee Police Department, retiring after many years of dedicated service.
A graduate of Bay View High School, Dennis was known for his funny, generous, and kind nature. He was mild-mannered and calm, characteristics that made him a comforting presence to those who knew him. His quick wit and ability to make others laugh endeared him to friends and family alike. Dennis enjoyed spending quality time with his friends, known affectionately as the Beaver Dam 5—(Tom, Kathy, Sandy -his nemesis, Gail and Dennis). Together, they shared countless hours of laughter and joy, playing spinners and creating cherished memories.
Dennis was a passionate sports enthusiast, supporting the Milwaukee Brewers and Green Bay Packers. He also had a special hobby that he shared with his step-son Christopher of collecting baseball cards, which brought him joy and nostalgia.
He is lovingly survived by his wife, Gail; his cherished children Michelle (Jon) Schultz, John Ludka, Nicholas (Nancy) Ludka, and stepson Christopher (JoAnn) Stoecker, along with his late stepson, Garrett Stoecker. He was a proud grandfather to Madison, Trent, Coty, Kylee, Ethan (Gianna), Jonas, Finley, River, Kai, Crystal, Garrett III, Patricio (Tia), and Michael. Also a great-grandfather to Arden, Peyton, Wren, Sawyer, Atlas, and Zaeva. He is also remembered by his dear brothers Richard (Teresa) Ludka and James (Nancy) Ludka, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends, all of whom will miss him dearly.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Martha Ludka, and his stepson, Garrett Stoecker.
A graveside service will be held in his honor on June 5, 2026, at 3:00 PM at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove, WI, where he will be laid to rest with full military honors.
