In Loving Memory of Derek A. Lopez

Derek Anthony Lopez passed away unexpectedly on October 14, 2025, at the age of 37 in Milwaukee, WI. He was born in Los Angeles, CA, to his beloved parents Roberta McFarlane Lopez and Robert A. Lopez.

Derek was the loving partner of Amber Keller and the proud father of Richard, Elijah, Noah, and Silas. He was a dear brother to Steven, Emilio, Serena, and Jasmine. Derek is further survived by many loved aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and colleagues.

Derek had a love for life that showed in everything he did. He was full of laughter, curiosity, and brilliance and was a beacon of warmth and wisdom as a partner, father, son, brother, colleague, and friend.

During his 37 years, Derek enjoyed cooking and trying new recipes, sharing entertaining stories, playing video games and board games, working on cars, spending time outside, learning, and growing in his engineering career. He proudly earned his Electrical Engineering, B.S., and Mathematics, Minor, at the Milwaukee School of Engineering.

Yet, Derek was happiest when surrounded by his family – whether in the kitchen, playing with his boys, coaching their sports teams, or just laughing together at home. His children were truly his pride and joy, he loved them beyond measure, and he cherished their time together creating lasting, loving memories.
