Dolores “Doris” Stacy
Doris Stacy passed away peacefully on January 26, 2026, at the age of 95. Born on June 20, 1930, Doris was the devoted wife of the late Robert “Bob” Stacy and the cherished mother of Donald (Mary) Stacy. She was loved by her extended family, including her sister-in-law Marian (Gene) Kaminski, her nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews- and by her many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Stanley and Theresa Kaminski, her brothers Eddie and Eugene, and her sisters Sylvia (Roman) Meller and Evelyn (Ralph) Marsh.
Doris and Bob had a cottage on Lake Koshkonong, where they made many friends and spent nearly forty summers before retiring to Arizona, where Eve and Ralph had also decided to live in retirement.
Doris was admired for her resilience, especially when she found herself widowed at a relatively young age in Sun Lakes, Arizona. She joined as many social groups as she could, learned how to line dance, played the machines at the casino, and obtained her first passport for a safari vacation in Africa.
Many of her longtime friendships began when she was a manager at the Sears store on Forest Home Ave in Milwaukee. She also worked in the church office at Sts. Cyril and Methodius Church, and did volunteer work for the School Sisters of Notre Dame.
Doris had a strong Catholic faith and was active in the parishes she belonged to throughout her long life. She also had a strong spirit of fun – organizing activities with her retired Sears colleagues and cheering on her beloved Green Bay Packers. She loved to dance and enjoyed music of all kinds, from show tunes to opera, from the Strauss Orchestra of Andre Rieu to ‘40s Big Bands.
Doris Stacy will be remembered for her warm smile, her enthusiasm for spending time with her family, including preparing countless holiday dinners, and her zest for living.
Lines from a favorite song of hers, “Lara’s Theme,” are fitting as a remembrance of a dear mother, sister, aunt, and friend:
“Somewhere my love, there will be songs to sing
Although the snow covers the hope of Spring
Somewhere a hill blossoms in green and gold
And there are dreams, all that your heart can hold.”
A private entombment was held. A Celebration of Life will be held later in the spring. Memorials to the music program of St. James Catholic Church, Franklin, WI 53132, would be most appreciated.
