Donald G. Klein, 88, entered eternal life on Friday, October 23, 2026.

Don was born on April 30, 1938 in Belleville, Illinois. He was the son of Ida (Meier) and Eugene Klein. He married Karen (Ilseman) on July 23, 1966 in St Louis, Missouri. He was the loving father of Michael, Peggy (Kevin Raihle), David, and Daniel (Brooke Ashcraft). Preceded in death by his parents and his sister Maryann (Donald Korves). Don and Karen have eight grandchildren: Michaela and Christian Klein; Lauren, Ryan, Sean and Katelyn Raihle; and Katelyn “KK” and Joe Klein.

A graduate of St. Louis University with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and a Masters Degree in Hospital Administration. Don worked as a healthcare executive at St. Mary’s Hospital in Milwaukee, WI, St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison, WI, St. Camillus in Milwaukee, WI, and Heritage Community in Kalamazoo, MI. A highlight of his career was serving as CEO during the development and construction of St. Camillus in the mid 1980s.

Don was a lifelong Amateur Radio Operator with the call letters of W9ATU. He had a decades long membership with Layton Study Center as a supernumerary member of Opus Dei.

Don was a man truly defined by his faith. Respectful, peaceful, humble. A quiet force. Devoted to his family and friends, and a dedicated worker. He was respected by all who knew him well.

Don was blessed to reach his 60th wedding anniversary this year. He and Karen had many years of fun family times including family car trips and later memorable European trips, with the highlight being the Holy Land. The Lord smiled on him, helping him through his treatments with minimal side effects, and he was able to be surrounded in his final days by his wife and all four children reminding him of how grateful they were for the life he had provided, each assured that he had lived a life that secured him a spot in Heaven.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, November 9, at 2:30 p.m. at St. Camillus Chapel of the West Residence, 10200 W. Wisconsin Avenue, Wauwatosa, WI 53226. Visitation from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. will precede the Mass and reception. Private cemetery services will be held at Mount Olivet Catholic Cemetery.
