Donald Francis Schmoll, affectionately known as Don to his friends and loved ones, passed away peacefully on December 10, 2025, at the age of 74. Born on July 8, 1951, in Wisconsin, Don's life was a testament to his enduring spirit and the love he shared with his family, friends, and community.
Don grew up attending St. Adalbert's for grade school and later graduated from Boys Tech in 1969. His strong sense of duty led him to serve in the US Reserves for seven years.
In 1976, Don married the love of his life, Diane, and together they built a family filled with love and laughter. They celebrated 49 years of marriage, a union blessed with three children: Tracy, married to Derrick Juul; Kristy Schmoll; and Scott Schmoll, who found his partner in Vanessa. Don worked hard to provide for his family so Diane could be home with the children. Don's joy was multiplied with the arrival of his grandchildren, Ryley, Holly, Cayden, Evan, and Eric, who will carry his legacy forward.
Don's Christian faith quietly guided him through times of joy and hardship with grace and humility. His interests were as varied as they were passionate. An avid hunter and fisherman, he cherished the tranquility of nature until he could no longer partake in these activities. Even then, his love for the outdoors remained, manifesting in his talent as a hummingbird whisperer, backdoor hunter, riding his 4-wheeler, and in the intricate fishing lures he crafted by hand.
A true Green Bay Packers fan, Don's enthusiasm for the team was infectious. He also enjoyed the competitive spirit of bowling and playing softball, where he formed many lasting friendships. Don's adventurous side shone through in his love for race cars and his notable achievement as a demolition derby champion.
Described by those who knew him as handy, interesting, and loving, Don through himself into many projects, often offering his skills to help others.
Don leaves memories that will be cherished by his family, including his devoted wife, Diane, their children Tracy, Kristy, and Scott, their spouses, his beloved grandchildren, and numerous other relatives and friends whose lives he touched.
