She had a great sense of humor and was a great storyteller, gifts that made time with her memorable and comforting.
Fay E. Calvano, née Steinfeldt, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2026, in New Berlin, Wisconsin, at the age of 76. She was born on January 6, 1950, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Fay devoted her professional life to caring for others. She was a graduate of the Milwaukee County General Hospital School of Nursing and went on to work at Milwaukee County Hospital and Froedtert Hospital. Her nursing career reflected both skill and compassion, and she took special pride in working on state-of-the-art transplant care for some of the first patients in Wisconsin to receive the LVAD device. That work stood as a meaningful example of her dedication to patients and to the advancing field of care she served so faithfully.
Beyond her profession, Fay will be remembered for the joy she brought to those around her. She had a great sense of humor and was a great storyteller, gifts that made time with her memorable and comforting. She was also a huge fan of the Milwaukee Brewers and Milwaukee Braves, and that enthusiasm was part of the lively spirit she shared with family and friends.
Above all, Fay cherished her family and the many relationships that shaped her life. She is survived by her husband, John Calvano; her son, Nick Imig, and Frances Azcueta; her son Nathan Imig; her sister, Nadine (Jeffrey) Ausen; her grandson, Jeremiah Imig; and her former spouse, Jerry Imig. She is also lovingly remembered by her niece, Samantha (Bryan) O'Connell, and by her nephew, Cameron (Katie) Ausen. Her legacy continues as well in her great-nieces and great nephews, Kellan, Alice, Miles, Margot, and Malcolm, who brought another generation of love to her family circle.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dale and Opal Steinfeldt.
Her memory will remain a lasting blessing to all who knew her.
