Fr. Robert F. Surges     "Fr. Bob"

Born on October 14, 1937 in Milwaukee. Born to eternal life June 15, 2025 at the age of 87. Brother of Suzanne Surges – Ory. Fr. Bob was very appreciative of the loving care given to him over the past eleven years by Susan Ory. Great uncle of Stacy (Evan) Phipps and their family. Further survived by other relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by his parents Robert J. and Mary E Surges and his brother John J. Surges.

A special thanks to the caring staff at Linden Grove Memory Care in New Berlin and Commonheart Home Health & Hospice for all the wonderful care given to Fr. Bob.

Father began his priestly formation at Saint Francis Minor Seminary in St. Francis from 1955 – 1957 and Saint Francis Major Seminary in St. Francis from 1957 – 1964. Father was ordained to the priesthood by the Most Reverend William E. Cousins at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist in Milwaukee on May 30, 1964.

Father Bob was first assigned Curate at Holy Name of Jesus Parish in Sheboygan on July 1, 1964. He was appointed Associate Pastor of St. Stephen Parish (S. Howell Ave.) in Milwaukee on June 22, 1971. On January 16, 1979, he was assigned Pastor of Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish in West Allis. Father was assigned as Pastor at St. Joseph Parish in Big Bend on June 16, 1987. On June 19, 2001 he was appointed Pastor of Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish in St. Francis. He retired from active ministry on October 31, 2011.

Visitation at St. Joseph Catholic Church (S89 W22650 Milwaukee, Ave. Big Bend) on Monday June 23, 2025 from 9:30 – 10:45 AM with the Funeral Mass to begin at 11 AM. Archbishop Jeffrey Grob will be presiding.

Private family interment services will take place at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Milwaukee.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Joseph Catholic Church - Big Bend would be greatly appreciated.
