Gene E. Trapp, who was known for his loving heart, handy nature, and wise outlook on life, passed away on May 5, 2026, at the age of 77 in Vancleave, MS where he resided.
Born and raised in South Milwaukee, WI on November 12, 1948, Gene lived a life marked by strength, devotion, and perseverance. He was a man who met life’s challenges with determination and grace, and he was admired by those who knew him for the way he kept pushing forward no matter what came his way. Through every season of life, he remained committed to his family, his work, and the simple joys that made each day meaningful.
Gene worked for many years as a high voltage tester before retiring as a grounds crew at Gulf Hills Golf Course. He took pride in doing a job well and was respected for his steady work ethic and practical skills. Outside of work, Gene found happiness in the outdoors and in the routines he loved such as golfing, puzzles, collector and was an enthusiastic fan of the Brewers, Packers, Bucks, Badgers and Ole Miss. When sports were not on his mind, he enjoyed helping others in need and building things, and enjoyed Western shows, Music and classic Car Shows. He especially loved being outside tending to his yard, where he could put his care and attention into making things grow and look their best. And These interests brought him joy, but nothing meant more to him than time spent with family. Gene will be remembered as a strong and loving man who beat the odds in life and never lost his determination. His family, friends, and all who knew him will remember his steady presence, his warmth, and the quiet wisdom he carried throughout his life.
Gene was a devoted family man whose love for his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren was evident in all he did. He is survived by his children, Staci (Lazar), Shantel (Pete), Shelbie, Sharla (Danny), and Brad (Cyndi). He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Zandra (Deven), Zach, Teighlor, Dakota (Kate), Wyatt (Taliyah), James, Joseph (Carolann), Brianne (Calob), John (Cece), Christopher (Erika), Kayden, Makenna, Carson, Jaicee, Tessa, Easton, and Ashlyn, along with 11 great-grandchildren. His family was a source of great pride and joy, and his presence will be deeply missed at every gathering and in every memory they hold dear. He is survived by his siblings, Judy and Jeff Balko, Larry and Jeanine Trapp, and Richard and Sheila Trapp, as well as his sister-in-law, Mary Trapp, his brother-in-law, Wayne Wagner, and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives who will remember him with love and gratitude. He was preceded in death by his parents, William G. and Lucille G. Trapp, wife, Lorie Ann, son, Kip Trapp, and siblings, Julianne Trapp, James Trapp, Laura Wagner, and Jerry Trapp.

Visitation at the MAX A. SASS GREENRIDGE CHAPEL (4747 S 60th St., Greenfield) on Thursday, May 21, 2026, from 3:00 PM until the 6:00 PM funeral service. Burial will take place in. Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Milwaukee.
