Wierzba, Gerald J. "Jerry" God held out his hand and gently lead the way for our Husband, Dad, Grandpa, and Grampy to his new heavenly home on Sunday, March 3rd. Jerry will always be the man that everybody loved. To his cherished family who knew him best, Jerry will be remembered as the most selfless, caring and patient family man. He had a cool, easy going way about him, and always kept a great sense of humor. At an event or gathering, he was likely to saunter into a room, crack a quick-witted joke like "I bet your wondering why we called this meeting" that would brighten everyone's mood, and then walk out as quietly as he came in. More than anything, Jerry was known as a fiercely motivated and successful business man with a work ethic that is incomparable. Simply stated, Jerry was a great man, who has been whole heartedly devoted and passionate in every area of his life. Born on the south side of Milwaukee, Gerald Joseph was the second of 3 sons by Joseph Wierzba and Myra Hensiak. As a teenager Jerry worked at Advance Floor Covering, opened by his parents in 1951, where his lifelong passion for the flooring business began . As a young man, Jerry enjoyed many hobbies such as golfing, hunting and swimming. Every year in November Jerry went hunting at Idle Hours Deer Camp in Saint Germain with the men in his family and close friends. Jerry attended South Division High School where he participated on the swim team and met the love of his life Jean "Cookie" at a Social Dance. From the start, Jerry knew that Jean was the only woman he wanted to spend the rest of his life with. The two quickly started planning their life together. After many years of working for his family, Jerry showed how truly motivated he was when he opened his first business, Hales Corners Floor Covering, with his wife and daughter in 1981. Jerry prided himself on close business relationships that he developed at the store and became a very well known and respected man throughout his years there. Jerry retired and sold Hales Corners Floor Covering in 2002, but stayed on to transition the new owner. His care and love for the business kept him there for an additional 5 years. That continued passion for the floor covering business sent him on to open All About Floors in New Berlin in 2010. His legacy is now carried on by his son and daughter. Jerry lived his life for his wife and family. He will always be held in their hearts. Survivors include his wife Jean. They would have celebrated their 54th anniversary March 7th.
