Gildo DiNunzio, 96, passed away on August 20, 2026. He lived a long and remarkable life devoted entirely to what he loved most, the performing arts.

Gildo began his studies at the American Conservatory of Music in Chicago and continued with Luigi Ricci. After serving in the army during the Korean Conflict, he began his career as a ballet and Broadway dancer and choreographer. He moved on to a deeply respected career at the Metropolitan Opera, as an assistant conductor, mentor, and coach for many decades.

Gildo is survived by his loving family as well as the countless artists, musicians, and colleagues who became a second family to him. His legacy lives on in the performers he guided and inspired, and in everyone who loved him. What we will remember most is his kindness and extraordinary humility.

The family wishes to thank The Waters of Oak Creek and St Croix Hospice staff for the care they provided.

Memorial donations may be made to The Metropolitan Opera or The Lindemann Young Artist Program
