Harisios “Harry” Vlahos, 73, Greendale, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 8, 2025 in his home with his wife and son by his side. Harry was born in the Village of Fellion, Grevenon, Greece on February 9, 1952, to the late Evangelos and Evanthia (Pappas) Vlahos. He left his village at the age of 14 to work on road construction, taking him far away from his home. In his early years, Harry spent several years working in Germany, returning to Greece to complete two years of required military service. Following this, Harry began his lifetime love of travel by joining the merchant marine and visiting South Africa, Morrocco, Mozambique, Dubai, Iraq, France and Italy.
In 1976, Harry immigrated to the United States, where he worked and lived in Milwaukee. In 1982 he met his future wife Cynthia “Cindy”, uniting in marriage in 1985. During their loving marriage of 40 years, they were blessed with 3 children and 3 grandchildren. As an auto mechanic, Harry worked hard both at his job and at home, tirelessly providing his family with well maintained and quality cars.
Throughout the years, Harry kept in close touch with family and friends in the US as well as those in Greece, Germany, and Australia, forming and maintaining a network of close connections which lives on. He was fortunate to be able to travel within the US and to Greece often with his wife and children, visiting family and friends whenever possible. Harry was a lifelong learner of history and geography and especially loved his time in Greece, exploring all of its beauty and history. He enthusiastically enjoyed swimming long distances in the sea, waving with a big smile to his nervous family on the shore. Harry enjoyed frequent long nature hikes both in Greece and at home. In 2019, Harry suffered a severely debilitating stroke. Against the odds and 4 months of rehabilitation in facilities, he spent the next 6 years at home with his loving family, largely through his hard work, tenacity and refusal to give up.
Harry is survived by his devoted wife, Cynthia, loving children Angelo, Julia (Josh) and Christina (Tony) and adoring grandchildren Mason, Mia and MacKenzie. He is further survived by his siblings Daphne (Stavros), Alexandra, Nikolaos (Deborah), sister-in-law Mary as well as many nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his siblings Evangeli (Christos), Efthemia (Manoli), Konstandinos and brother-in-law Konstandinos ‘Kostaki’.
