James W. Hamilton "Jim" "Hammer"

Passed away 9/16/2026, at the age of 91, after a hard-fought battle with several major health issues. He was looking forward to dancing again with Lorraine, his wife of 59 years, who left this world 10 years ago. Jim deserves peace and rest after a lifetime of talking, joking, tinkering, long hours working (including at Wisconsin Bell and several successor companies), and his recent struggles. 

Jim was the cherished father of Laurie, Jim (Tamara), Kevin (Kathy), Gary (Joanne), and Bob (Lorie); grandfather of Michael, Nicole, Jimmy, Jeremy, Courtney, Jesse, Cody, Castiel, Mila, Andrew, and Emily; and great-grandfather of Lee, Nolan, Adalyn, and Kayden. He will also be missed by many more, including nieces, nephews, friends, dear sister-in-law Dorothy Antoniewicz, and special family friend Mary Ann Lee. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elam and Annette, and siblings Dorothy, Mary Jean, Marjorie, Shirley, and Tom. 

Jim lost his mother as an early teen, and often spoke of his admiration for his sisters and brothers-in-law Gottfried Miller and Frederick Schmidt for their extra care. He paid that forward in many ways, and demonstrated his character by providing incredible care, at home, for Lorraine in her final months. 

Visitation at the St. Adalbert Cemetery- Chapel of Hope, 3801 S. 6th Street, on Saturday, September 26 from 9:30 - 11 AM. Prayer Service at 11 AM. Please use the 6th Street entrance to the cemetery (closer to Howard Ave.). Within the cemetery, The Chapel of Hope is at the North end of the cemetery grounds, on the south side of the road.
