James "Jim" Curtin of Greendale found peace on January 29, 2014 at the age of 90. Loving father of James J. (Cheri), Kevin M. (Kathryn), Patrick E. (Joanne), and Michael J. (Shelia) devoted grandfather of Madeline, Jim, Daniel, Jordan, Jamie, Erin, Megan, John (Jack) and Joe: dear brother of Eileen Beier. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 59 years, Carol, brother Daniel and sister Elizabeth. A graduate of Marquette University, Jim was previously a biology teacher and worked in the medical field prior to retiring from his career at Allis Chalmers. Right up to his passing, Jim was an avid reader, lifelong learner and teacher. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and traveling the country with his wife. We will always remember the unwavering care and compassion Jim provided to Carol during her final years with us before her passing on April 22, 2010. In 1951, Jim married the girl next door, Carol Ball. As early residents of the village of Greendale Jim (and Carol) were charter members of the Greendale Historical Society and were key contributors in the creation and publishing of "Greendale Remembers" The Story of the Village in the Voices of Its People. This book was a great source of pride for all who had the opportunity grow up in this unique community during the "baby boom" years. Previously a member of St. Alphonsus Parish and member of the Good News Singers, Jim was also very active with the Boy Scouts of America (Troop 505) in Greendale with his four sons. We love you Dad and will be touched forever by a life well lived. A visitation will be held at Max A Sass & Sons Funeral Home, Mission Hills Chapel, 8910 W. Drexel Avenue, Franklin on Sunday, April 27, 2014 from 2:00 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. A Memorial Service will follow at 3:30 p.m. Max A.
