James Eugene Stepp Obituary

Stepp, James "Jim" passed away peacefully on October 28, 2026, after a brief hospitalization and admission to hospice care, at the age of 80. He joins his beloved family: parents Fred and Alice, brothers Frederick and Carl, and sister-in-law Cora in eternal life. He is survived by his three children, Jim (Sally), Jenny, and Jared (Jo), and two grandchildren, Josh and Jocelyn. He is further survived by dear family and friends.

James (Jim) was a lifelong resident of the Milwaukee area until relocating in his later retirement to Texas in 2023, and most recently to Summerville, South Carolina, in 2025. Jim was a welder for the majority of his work life. Outside of work, he loved to care for his pets (both furry and non-furry), going out for a good meal, taking a drive, visiting with his family, fishing, gaming, watching movies, cooking family recipes, and reading.

He always spoke with great pride regarding his children and had an especially soft spot for his grandchildren. The family would like to especially extend our mutual gratitude to daughter Jenny, who provided daily support and care to Jim in the last couple of years.

Jim was cremated per his wishes, and aftercare was handled by James A. Dyal Funeral Home in SC. A private memorial gathering was attended by immediate family. Tributes and condolences can be posted below.
