Jane V. Rohleder of South Milwaukee, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully at home with her daughters holding her hands at the age of 94. Jane is survived by her daughters, Robin (Richard) Herrmann and Louise Ann (Theodore) Rehl, her cherished grandchildren, Vanessa (Scott) Schmoll and Robert (Sarah) Williams, and her precious great-grandsons, Evan and Eric Schmoll and Cameron Williams. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 65 years, the Reverend Robert A. Rohleder, and her dear sister, Patricia Lee. She is further survived by her nieces, Elizabeth Norris and Kathleen (Gregg) Herzog, and her dear friend and caregiver, Doris Jelinek.

Jane graduated from Riverside High School in 1948 and shortly afterwards married Bob. They began their life together in California and then Hawaii while Bob served in the United States Marine Corps.. Upon moving back from overseas, they relocated to South Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where Jane happily spent the majority of her life raising her family and creating a warm and nurturing environment. Jane and Bob joined St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, where she found her purpose in serving on the Altar Guild and continued that service for a half-century.

Jane was an avid Scrabble player. In her younger years, she played the game weekly with her sister and neighbors, and when she moved to her apartment, she continued to enjoy the game with her new friends. Jane also played Royal Rummy every Tuesday evening with her apartment neighbors as her schedule allowed.

However, her greatest joy was her family. She was always involved with her daughters’ activities and continued to be ever-present at the activities of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jane will be profoundly missed, yet her legacy of love and faith will continue to illuminate the lives of her family and all who were touched by her extraordinary spirit and infectious smile.

Special thanks to Dr. Dexter Rebancos, Dr. Abhay Jella, and the staff at Vince Lombardi Cancer Clinic, and the Aurora Hospice team for their love and care for Jane.
