Janet Marie Mandel (née Slater), 74, of Franklin, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on June 18, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

Janet was born on September 10, 1951, to John and Constance Slater. She was raised in St. Paul, MN, where she developed the warmth, resilience, and compassionate spirit that would define her life.

On September 15, 1973, Janet married the love of her life, Bruce Mandel. Together, they built a beautiful life sharing 52 wonderful years of marriage.

To those who knew her, Janet was many things: a devoted wife, an incredible mom, a proud nana, a loving sister and mother-in-law, a loyal friend, and a cherished member of her college friend group, affectionately known as the "WooWoos."

Above all else, Janet treasured her family. She found her greatest joy in spending time with her children and grandchildren, celebrating their accomplishments, offering encouragement, and making each person feel deeply loved. She lovingly referred to her children's spouses, Christopher and Ashley, as "the Outlaws," a reflection of her playful spirit and the special bond she shared with them.

She is survived by her husband, Bruce; her son, Andrew Mandel and his wife, Ashley; their children, Max and Matilyn; her daughter, Meehan Koziura and her husband, Christopher; and their children, Elliot, Porter, and Barrett.

Janet is also survived by her siblings, Greg Slater, Ken Slater, Mary Carr, Barb Adons, Lynn Beranek, Terry Schatz, and Carol Gamber; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, dear friends, coworkers, and all those whose lives she touched with her kindness and unwavering love.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Constance Slater.

A celebration of Janet's life will be held at Max A. Sass & Sons Mission Hills Chapel (8910 W. Drexel Ave., Franklin, WI 53132) on  Friday, July 24, 2026 from 3-5pm, with a prayer service at 5pm. Family and friends are invited to gather and honor her memory.

Though Janet will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort in knowing she is at peace. Her legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering devotion to family will live on in all who knew and loved her.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Janet's honor to the Lewy Body Dementia Association (https://lbda.org/donate) or the Alzheimer's Association (https://www.alz.org) to support research, education, and care for individuals and families affected by dementia.
