Janet (Jan) Melloch
April 30, 1948 – February 04, 2026
Janet "Jan" Katherine Melloch (77) was called home on February 04, 2026. She was born on April 30, 1948, in Milwaukee, WI, to her parents, Henry and Irene (Ludka) Melloch.
When Jan was very young, her father designed and built their family home in Greenfield, WI, which she was very proud of, and where she resided at the time of her death. Henry and Irene owned and operated the beloved Irene’s Pastry Shop on Milwaukee’s South Side pre-World War II.
Jan graduated from St. Mary’s Academy in 1966 and was a proud member of the Alumni Association, where she helped organize Alumni Sundays, luncheons, and other events.
Janet loved music and was an extremely talented singer. She sang with the Florentine Opera in the mid to late 70’s as an Alto. Her mother loved music just as much, if not more than Janet, and also had a beautiful voice. One of the things she loved throughout her life was singing in the St Cecilia Choir at Blessed Sacrament, where they sang together for many years. She remained active with the choir, serving as president, in various other board positions, and will forever be remembered for the amazing parties she threw, especially her working riverboat!
Jan went back to school in the late eighties, receiving her degree from Alverno College in 1992.
Jan was a lifelong member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and looked for God everywhere and in everything, evident by her extensive collection of found coins and pennies taped to little notes describing the significance, often on days of family and friends’ birthdays, death anniversaries, and other special days. She had a deep love for her family and friends and was always the first to volunteer to help and be there for support.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Irene. She is survived by her daughter, Nichole Piotrowski (Jamie Scholl), her beloved grandchildren, Henry Anthony and Audrey Joy Scholl. Her best friends – her sisters – Patricia (Bruce) Eltzroth of Kingston, TN, and Christine (Edward) Skeehan of Sicklerville, NJ. She is further survived by her former husband, Mike Piotrowski, many nieces, nephews, family members, and friends.
A special thank you to Carolyn (Gary) Rice for taking Jan to her many medical appointments, trips to Starbucks, and Panera, and for being such good friends.
Visitation will be on February 20th, 2026, from 10:00-11:00 AM at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 3100 S. 41 st Street, Milwaukee, WI. Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:00 AM. Graveside internment immediately after at St. Adalbert’s Cemetery – 3801 S. 6 th St., Milwaukee, WI.
