John Joseph Majewski age 69 passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 26, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 6, 1957 in Astoria, New York to Edward Majewski Sr. and Jean M. (Varecka) Majewski. John spent his early years in Queens, New York by his mother and grandmother until he was twelve years old, where he moved to Milwaukee, WI and where he lived with his maternal aunt and uncle. John graduated from James Madison High School and continued his education at MATC, earning a criminal justice degree. It was during this time at MATC he met his future wife.
On May 7, 1977, John married Brenda Thole, at St. Clement Parish in Lancaster, WI. Together they welcomed two sons, Jason and Dan, and have lived in Greendale the last 40 years where John has enjoyed knowing all the neighborhood dogs more than their owners. John worked at Falk for 38 years. During John’s healthier days he liked to visit family, see sites his wife would drag him to, and visit Las Vegas with the guys.
John was an avid sports fan, both as a participant and a supporter. He played first base for multiple softball teams, including his company team Falk, and also managed and played for Finn Pattern. John also loved watching sports and was a supporter of the Greendale Panthers, where his children played, as well as his grandchildren’s teams. John was a devoted fan of the Milwaukee Brewers, Milwaukee Bucks and Green Bay Packers. He also enjoyed taking a gamble, whether it was taking his sons to Las Vegas for their 21st Birthdays, visiting the Dog Track, or purchasing a lottery ticket. Puzzles and games were also a favorite pastime; he could be found completing the daily crossword in pen or playing cribbage. Known affectionately as “Papa J” by his four grandchildren, he was also called “Papa Piggy Pants” because his grandkids could always count on him for cash in his pockets. John enjoyed MGD beer and always insisted drinking it straight from the bottle, as it was already in glass. He also participated in many charity events throughout the years.
After raising sons, John welcomed two bonus daughters, Shannon and Allie, and a granddaughter Ana into his life. He shared a special bond with the girls – eating a completely burned pizza that 12-year-old Shannon had made, never complaining when Allie stole “his” pen, and believing Ana could do no wrong when she would bat her eyelashes at “Papa”.
As the cancer progressed and cut our time short, John was able to make some final memories by attending a Brewers game with is older grandkids, shooting pool with his boys, and he continued the tradition of Wednesdays with his youngest two grandchildren.
John is survived by his wife Brenda; son Jason and daughter-in-law Shannon Majewski and grandsons Grayson and namesake TJ (Thomas John) Majewski of Aledo, TX; son Dan and daughter-in-law Allie, grandson Leopold, and granddaughter Anastasia Majewski of Big Bend, WI; his favorite mother-in-law Sue Thole of Lancaster, WI; his brother Ed (Patti) Majewski of Greendale, WI and a large circle of extended family and friends.
John was preceded in death by his mother, Jean Majewski, father, Edward Majewski Sr., and his father-in-law Maurie Thole.
A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated on Saturday, May 2, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, 6060 W Loomis Rd, Greendale, WI. Visitation will be at the church Saturday morning from 9:00 – 10:45 a.m. Inurnment will be held at a later date at Cassville Cemetery in Cassville, WI.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the doctors, nurses and staff at the clinics, hospitals, and hospice of Aurora Medical Center for the compassionate care provided to John throughout his treatment.
