Lee Charles Schwab February 3, 1938 — August 15, 2026

Lee Charles Schwab, 88, of Greenfield, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully at his home on August 15, 2026, surrounded by his family, after a long battle with illness.

Lee was born February 3, 1938, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the son of Howard and Irene (nee Black) Schwab. The oldest of three children, he grew up in Milwaukee alongside his sister, Judy, and his brother, Dennis "Butch" Schwab, and graduated from Pulaski High School. He went on to serve his country in the United States Army Reserve.

On October 7, 1961, Lee married Arlene Walesa. Together they built a life and raised four sons, and shared more than 64 years of marriage.

Lee spent 37 years as a letter carrier with the United States Postal Service, driving his route in every kind of Wisconsin weather. Providing for his family came first, and for many years he worked two jobs to do it. He and Arlene also ran a newspaper auto route with their boys, Monday through Saturday afternoons, and early Sunday mornings before the sun was up. Retirement didn't slow him down, he went on to work more than 24 years at Manheim Milwaukee Auto Auction in Caledonia, doing what he loved, around cars.

He was a handy man in the truest sense. There was very little around the house or on his cars that he couldn't fix, build, or improve, and he took real pride in his home, his vehicles, and a well-kept lawn. He loved cars, and he loved his pets, particularly his birds. He fished, bowled, and
golfed. For ten years he volunteered at Our Lady Queen of Peace parish, where his sons attended school, calling bingo and helping wherever he was needed. And he was a devoted Green Bay Packers fan who spent a good many Sundays coaching the team through the television set, with
the Milwaukee Brewers getting the same treatment all summer long.

One story tells you most of what you need to know about Lee. As a young man, he found an orphaned baby pigeon and raised it himself. The bird became his friend and would ride along on the windshield of his 1956 Chevrolet convertible. That was Lee; kind to anything or anyone that needed it, and good company besides.

He was funny, hardworking, and unfailingly kind, to family and strangers alike. In a life that gave him plenty of reasons to, he never complained. People liked being around him. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and he will be deeply missed.

Lee is survived by his wife of 64 years, Arlene; his four sons, Scott (Cathy) Schwab, Steve (Darlene) Schwab, Stuart (Neomi Curry) Schwab, and Kevin (Allison) Schwab; his eleven grandchildren, Christopher, Colleen, Mikayla, Dana, Jenna, Derek, Sarah, Curtis, Ashley, Natalie, and Teddy; and his thirteen great-grandchildren, Landon, Jayden, Amy, Aya, Omar, Kinsley, Elliot, Kylee, Julia, Tydus, Connor, Bennett, and Callahan.

He is also survived by his sister, Judy Kuhrt, as well as other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Irene, and his brother, Dennis "Butch" Schwab.
