Linda Scribner, age 79, of New York, passed away on Thursday, April 9, 2026. She was born on June 28, 1946, in New York and lived a life marked by devotion, warmth, intelligence, and a deep appreciation for the people and places she loved.
Linda was the beloved wife of Foster for 60 years. Their marriage began on a snowy Monday, December 26, 1966, in New City, New York, and from that day forward they built a life together grounded in love, loyalty, and shared adventure. After their wedding, they honeymooned in the Poconos Mountains, beginning a lifetime of memories that reflected Linda’s love of winter, the outdoors, and the simple joys of being together. She spent 27 years as a military wife, following the love of her life with grace and strength, and she made a home wherever life led them. In her own home, she was a homemaker who created a warm and welcoming environment for her family and all who knew her.
Linda is survived by her husband, Foster; her son, Greg (Mistre); her siblings, Randy Mase (Kathy), Mike (Marcelle) Mase, Doug Mase, Larry Mase (Carrie), and Diane Mase; as well as several nieces, nephews, and friends who will cherish her memory. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lyman and Alice (Tullis) Mase.
Linda had a remarkable spirit and a personality that left a lasting impression. She was funny, intelligent, and wise, with a wonderful sense of humor that brought laughter to those around her. She enjoyed board games and especially liked any game that required considerable thinking, a reflection of her sharp mind and thoughtful nature. She loved cold weather and found joy in the beauty of the outdoors. National parks held a special place in her heart, and she traveled from Utah to Maine and Tennessee to Canada, with Yellowstone standing out as one of her favorite destinations.
Linda also loved animals and remembered Lady as her most recent animal companion. Her affection for animals was part of the gentle and caring way she moved through the world. Those who knew her will remember her as someone who could be both strong and tender, practical and playful, always ready with a clever remark or a thoughtful perspective.
Linda’s legacy lives on in the hearts of her husband, son, siblings, extended family, and friends, who will continue to hold her close in memory. No services will be held at this time, please consider a donation to the American Cancer Society in Linda’s name.
