Lois “Shorty” Riley (Drezdzon) passed away peacefully at home on September 10, 2026, at the age of 87. She was reunited with her beloved husband, Oran Riley, with whom she shared 47 years of marriage.

Shorty will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Susan “Susie” (the late Van) Sandeen; granddaughter, Jolene “Joey” (Ian) Catterall; cherished great-grandchildren, Bailey and Mason Catterall; and her dear sister, Karen Kennon. She will also be fondly remembered by her extended family, friends, and all those who were fortunate enough to know her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Oran; her parents, Frederick and Joanna (Brzezinski) Drezdzon; and her siblings, Shirley, Dell, Ruthie, Pat, and Freddy.

Shorty devoted much of her life to caring for her family as a homemaker, while also working at various times as a waitress and factory worker. Of all the jobs she held, working at a candy factory was her favorite.

She shared many adventures with Oran. During the years he owned and drove a truck across the country, Shorty often traveled alongside him, giving them the opportunity to see the country together.

Shorty loved baking, playing bingo, roller skating and ice skating, and spending time with her many beloved dogs. She had a feisty personality and a spirit that was uniquely her own. Those closest to her will remember her humor, her presence, and the unmistakable way she made an impression on the people around her.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Shorty’s memory to the Wisconsin Humane Society or the Milwaukee Area Domestic Animal Control Commission (MADACC), honoring the special place animals held in her heart.

In keeping with Shorty’s wishes, there will not be a formal service.
