Lourdes Laguna, a beloved member of the community and a dedicated family matriarch, passed away on October 25, 2025, at the age of 87 in Muskego, Wisconsin. Born on August 7, 1938, in Ponce, Puerto Rico, Lourdes moved to the United States, where she became a strong figure in both her family and professional life.
Lourdes enjoyed a remarkable career as a longtime employee of Wisconsin Bell and AT&T, where her commitment and work ethic were well known among her colleagues. Education played a significant role in her life, as she was proud to be a member of the first graduating class of St. Joan Antida High School, and set a noteworthy example as the first in her family to attend college at Mount Mary University.
As a devout Catholic, faith and family were the cornerstones of Lourdes’s life. She shared 65 years and 10 days of marriage with her loving husband, Pablo (Pablito) prioritizing church attendance and fellowship at Old Saint Mary Parish where they married in 1960 and regularly attended mass. Together, they raised their children, Michelle (Dan) McCue and Richard Laguna (Wendy Morgese), instilling values of respect and strength that she held dear. Lourdes also cherished her role as a grandmother to Olivia Rose McCue, with whom she shared a special bond.
Her vibrant personality was characterized by a great sense of humor, complemented by her love for dancing and going to the movies. Lourdes had a remarkable talent for organizing family gatherings (at her home, picnics at various parks, House on the Rock, Wisconsin Dells, and on and on) that brought joy and connection to everyone involved. She never lost her Puerto Rican accent and could roll her “R’s” like none other, lovingly embodying her heritage throughout her life.
In addition to her immediate family, Lourdes is survived by her devoted siblings, Myrta M. Garcia and Julio (Lynne) Rivera. She was preceded in death by her brother Domingo (Karen) Rivera and her mother Rosa Lydia Rivera, whom she will be reunited with in eternal rest.
A visitation will be held at Old Saint Mary Parish in Milwaukee on November 6, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 2:45 PM, followed by a Mass starting at 3:00 PM and concluding at 4:00 PM, offering family and friends an opportunity to celebrate Lourdes’s incredible life together.
Lourdes Laguna leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and devotion that will continue to inspire all who knew her.
