Lynn Marie Apriesnig February 8, 1951 – August 28, 2026

Lynn Marie Apriesnig, born February 8, 1951, was called home to the Lord on August 28, 2026. She was a woman of deep Catholic faith, strong convictions, and an unforgettable personality. Spicy, and never afraid to tell you exactly what she thought, Lynn loved fiercely and lived her life grounded in her faith, her family, and the values she held dear. Her Catholic faith was at the center of her life. Lynn instilled in each of her children the importance of keeping their faith as a guiding principle throughout their lives. She also passed along a deep patriotism, an appreciation for gardening, and a very special love for Christmas.

Some of the family’s most treasured memories were made during annual summer vacations to Door County. It was there that Lynn taught her children to slow down and appreciate nature’s beauty, especially the lighthouses and the shores of Lake Michigan. Kewaunee also held a special place in her heart and remained a favorite place to visit.

Lynn found happiness in both life’s meaningful moments and its simple pleasures. She loved music and movies, quilting, Scottie dogs, gardening, looking up at the moon, and spending time along Lake Michigan. And then there was her daily cup of tea with honey—a simple ritual she loved, with her son Mark earning the distinction of making it best when the children were growing up. Above everything else, Lynn loved her family, particularly her grandchildren.

She leaves behind many traditions, laughter, and stories that will continue to be told for generations. Lynn is survived by her husband, Mark D. Apriesnig Sr.; her children, Matthew Oake and his wife, Nicole; Mark D. Apriesnig Jr. and fiancé Elizabeth Kafka and Lynn-Marie J. Conner and her husband, Eric. She was a loving grandmother to Ella, Scarlett, Cora, Harrison, and Savannah. She was also joyfully awaiting the arrival of her grandson, Walter, due this December, who will grow up knowing his grandmother through the stories, traditions, and love she left behind. Her three Scotties Haley, Rocky and Fiona are also missing her and the time they spent laying at her feet.

Lynn was preceded in death by her beloved son, Joshua J. Potrykus, who passed away in 2023; her parents, Edward and Stephanie Potrykus; her brothers, Thomas Potrykus, Lee Robert Potrykus, and William Potrykus; and her sisters, Joyce Zuelsdorf, Kathy Witczak, and Patricia Gruszczynski. She is further survived by her brother, Edward Potrykus and his wife, Nicki, as well as extended family and friends who will deeply miss her.

Those who knew Lynn will remember a woman who was unmistakably herself—faithful, spirited, direct, loving, and strong. Her family will be reminded of her in many places and moments: a garden in bloom, beside the waters of the Lake, during the warmth and wonder of Christmas, over a cup of tea with honey, and whenever they look up at the moon. She has gone home to the Lord and to those she loved who went before her.

Lynn was also a breast cancer survivor, meeting that fight with the same grit and faith she brought to everything in life. In lieu of flowers or monetary gifts, the family encourages donations in her memory to the National Breast Cancer Foundation

Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Max A. Sass & Sons Funeral and Cremation Greenridge Chapel, 4747 S. 60th Street, Greenfield, Wisconsin 53220, followed by a vigil service from 7:00 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. On Wednesday, September 9, 2026, a brief viewing will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at Saint Mary's Catholic Faith Community, 9520 W Forest Home Ave, Hales Corners, Wisconsin 53130, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place at 1:00 p.m. at Saint Adalbert Cemetery, 3801 South 6th Street, Milwaukee, Wisconsin 53221.
