Margaret S. Kattner (Matucheski), age 91, passed away on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, at her home in Greendale, Wisconsin, surrounded by her family. She was born on May 3, 1935, in Antigo, Wisconsin, to Thomas and Lucille Matucheski.
Above all, Marge will be remembered for her loving and generous heart. She was a fiercely devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, as well as a courageous and intentional caregiver. She was always ready to offer her strength, compassion, and time to those around her and to her community. Her warmth, generosity, and ability to make others feel loved and cared for will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Margaret is survived by her children, Jerome (Melody), John, James (Katherine), Joseph (Sherry), Jeffrey, Jay (Patricia), Jan (Nadine), Donald, and Debra; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and her brothers, Raymond, Thomas, and Frank.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Donald; her parents, Thomas and Lucille Matucheski; and her sisters, Marie and Lucille.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Aurora at Home Hospice for the compassionate care and support they provided to Margaret and her family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, at St. Alphonsus Parish, 6060 W Loomis Rd. Visitation will follow from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Max A. Sass Greenridge Chapel, 4747 South 60th Street. In keeping with Margaret’s wishes, please do not wear black. She would love for everyone to wear bright, cheerful colors as they celebrate her life.
Margaret will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, Donald. A cryptside service will be held on Thursday, October 15, 2026, at Queen of Peace Cemetery, 6th Avenue & Aurora Street, Antigo, WI 54409. The time of the service will be determined.
In lieu of plants and flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the Alzheimer’s Association. Memorials may also be made to St. Alphonsus Parish, or a Mass may be offered in Margaret’s honor.
