Marlene Morouse Aune passed away peacefully on April 19, 2026, at the age of 84.

She was the beloved wife of the late Casper Aune, Jr., and the cherished companion of Erwin Ihn. Marlene is lovingly remembered by her stepchildren, Jeanine "Jenny" (Sigurour "Siggi" Olafsson) Aune, Kathrina "Katie" (David "Dave") O'Connell, and Karl Andrew "Andy" Aune; and by her step-grandchildren, Sunneva Sigurosdottir, Ethan Ari Sigurosson, Sanden O'Connell, Liam O'Connell, and Esben O'Connell. She is further survived by her cousins, Gerald Seighman, Robert Magister, William Magister, and MaryAnn (Michael) Hoffmann; dear friends Erik Ihn, Jeffrey Ihn, and Andrew Ihn; her special friend, Mary Haberman, and her treasured "Mount Mary Family"; as well as many other relatives and friends.

Marlene dedicated her professional life to the field of Allergy-Immunology, where her knowledge, leadership, and commitment to patient care earned her the respect of colleagues throughout the medical community. During her career as an Allergy-Immunology Technologist at the Milwaukee County Medical Complex, she quickly advanced to Supervisor and Head of the Allergy Laboratory. She later served as a Senior Allergy Technologist at Children's Hospital before continuing her work in a private allergy practice.

A lifelong learner and dedicated professional, Marlene was an active member of numerous organizations, including the American Society of Medical Technology, the Wisconsin Society of Medical Technology, the American Society of Clinical Pathologists, and the American Academy of Allergy. Throughout her career, she received several professional honors, including the Professional Excellence Award from Lakeside Laboratories and recognition in Who's Who of Professional Young Women, both in 1974. She also contributed to the advancement of her field through published work in collaboration with fellow physicians.

Marlene was deeply involved in her community and devoted her time to many meaningful pursuits. She proudly served as President of the Mount Mary Alumni Association, held a real estate broker's license for 13 years, worked as a poll worker, and dedicated 500 hours of volunteer service as a Master Gardener through the University of Wisconsin Extension.

Marlene had a remarkable love of languages and became proficient in several. She also cherished traveling and embraced opportunities to explore the world through her many journeys abroad. Her curiosity extended to the kitchen, where she delighted in preparing cuisines from around the globe. Julia Child was among her favorite culinary inspirations, and her extensive cookbook collection reflected her passion for cooking and her appreciation for cultures from around the world.

A Memorial Mass celebrating Marlene's life will be held on Monday, August 24, at 11:00 a.m. in The Chapel at Mount Mary University, 2900 Menomonee River Parkway, Milwaukee. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Marlene's name would be appreciated to Mount Mary University or the charity of your choice.
