Mary Leichtfuss, age 86, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 27, 2025 in Waukesha, Wisconsin.

Mary was born in Maryland on September  23, 1938. She moved to Milwaukee shortly thereafter and spent the rest of her life in Wisconsin. She graduated from Pius High School in Milwaukee. Throughout her life, she remained deeply connected to her community and family, offering unwavering support and kindness to those around her.

Mary was best known for her heart of gold. Her generosity and compassion were evident in the way she cared for others—up until the last year of her life, she regularly transported elderly friends to appointments and helped clean their apartments. Her selflessness extended beyond simple acts of kindness; it was a way of life that touched many.

She held a particularly special place in the hearts of the Marx family. Considered more like a sister than a cousin, Mary played an integral role in their lives. She lovingly helped care for their mother and father and was always ready to lend a hand with any project. Her presence was a constant at every Marx family celebration, where she was cherished as one of their own.

Mary also found joy in life's simple pleasures. She enjoyed shooting pool, playing slots, and spending time on the softball field—activities that brought her happiness and camaraderie with friends. She loved animals and they loved her. Her cat Callie was with her ‘til the end.

She is survived by cousins, nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and dear friends who will miss her deeply. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Ruth and Milton Leichtfuss; her brothers Robert Leichtfuss and David Leichtfuss; and her sisters Bernice Olsheske and Joanne O'Haver.

Mary’s legacy is one of quiet strength, enduring love, and heartfelt service to others. May her memory bring comfort to all who knew her. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, September 10, 2025 from 6:00 to 7:00 pm at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, 7963 S. 116th Street in Franklin.
