Mary Ann Lydon (nee Hodkiewicz) of Franklin, WI passed away peacefully on October 18, 2026, at the age of 77 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born on June 14, 1949, (Flag Day) in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Norbert and Agnes Hodkiewicz, Mary devoted much of her life to her family and home. She was a devoted homemaker, mother, and grandmother dedicating her life to her family. This was apparent by the love and hard work she put into wonderful holidays, parties, baby showers, and bridal showers. She will also be remembered for her gifts and warm hugs that stayed with those who received them.
Known affectionately as “MeMe,” a name from her own childhood nickname, she held a special place as a grandmother. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, Kayleigh, Noelle, Mila, Brendan, and Kamden. Reading, playing games, and sharing activities with them will be lasting memories for all. Mary got great joy from watching her grandchildren play soccer, basketball, baseball, acting, dance, volleyball, and cheerleading.
Mary felt immense pride and joy in supporting her grandchildren's diverse passions, whether they were on a sports field, dancing, music, cheerleading or shining under the theater and stage lights. She was likely her grandchildren's biggest cheerleader, deeply invested in every area of their lives. Her love spanned across an impressive variety of activities.
- Athletics: She was right there in the stands for soccer, volleyball, basketball, and baseball games
- Performing Arts: She experienced the magic of seeing them express themselves through acting and dance.
- School Concerts- Piano Recitals- Team Spirit: She got to cheer along with them during their cheerleading routines.
Mary enjoyed hosting many family pool parties, camping with her family each summer, gardening and baking as she became especially known for her homemade ranger cookies, coconut cake (a family heirloom recipe), and apple pie. Going to church as a family of five and having family movie nights added to the times most important to her.
Mary is survived by her husband, Bill Lydon, with whom she shared 54 years of marriage; her children, Sarah Higgins (Jeff), Robert Lydon (Paige), and Catherine Bollis (Eric); her grandchildren; her brothers and sisters, Ronald Hodkiewicz, Ralph Hodkiewicz (Gail), Leonard Hodkiewicz (Cathie), Loretta Hoefs (Daniel), Joan Fischer, and Robert Hodkiewicz (Barbara); and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Norbert and Agnes Hodkiewicz, and her brother, Norbert Hodkiewicz (Cindy).
She will be dearly missed by her family and many friends.
Visitation will be held at Max A. Sass & Sons-Mission Hills Chapel, 8910 W. Drexel Ave., Franklin, on Thursday, October 29, from 4:00–7:00 PM.
