Nancy Joanne Lopez

Nancy Joanne Lopez, born on September 20, 1938, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, passed away on July 2, 2025. She leaves behind a rich legacy with love, laughter, and cherished memories.

Nancy dedicated many years to being a stay-at-home mom. After her kids grew up, she transitioned into a career in retail, continuing to touch lives with her vibrant spirit. Known for her larger-than-life personality, she had a signature saying, “Son of a bitch,” which often punctuated her lively conversations. Her voice was unmistakably loud, giving the impression that she was always enthusiastically engaging with those around her.

A culinary talent, Nancy enjoyed baking and cooking, often delighting her family and friends with her delicious creations. Her love for music and dancing was reflected in the lively parties she hosted at her home, where she was undoubtedly the life of the gathering, ensuring everyone felt welcome and included.

Nancy's family was her pride and joy. She is lovingly survived by her children: Donald Yakel Jr., Deanna (the late Odell) Young, Douglas (Natalie) Yakel, Denise (Chino) Castrejon, Danny (Audry) Yakel, and Antonio Lopez. She is further survived by her 18 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 23 great-great-grandchildren, with whom she shared countless special moments. Nancy was also a dear sister to Monica, Karen, and Darlene.

She was preceded in death by her husbands,  Pedro Lopez and Donald Yakel Sr,  as well as her siblings Tommy, Steve, Jerry, Bonzi, Ziggy, Judy, Suzie, Margie, and Danny.

Nancy will be deeply missed by all who knew her, yet her spirit will live on through the many lives she touched and the memories she created. Her unwavering love and dedication as a grandmother and her ability to keep the kids in check will be remembered fondly by her family.
