Paul David Fair was born in Superior, Wisconsin, the son of Susan and Dave Fair of Superior. He passed away unexpectedly on August 7, 2026, at the age of 62 in Black River Falls, WI.

Paul is survived by his mother, Susan; brother Patrick (Wende); sister Anne Marie (Tamela); and stepfather Mike Sr., along with cousins Bob and Zachary, a niece, nephews, and various aunts and uncles. Additionally, he is survived by his beloved “Sweet Pea Marie” who was responsible for making Paul a proud and prominent member of the Cat Dads Club. Paul was preceded in death by his younger brother, Mike Jr., who passed in 2023.

The Fair family moved from Superior to Milwaukee when Paul was very young. Even while he experienced unexpected hardships growing up, he also learned many life lessons. But most importantly, he grew up surrounded by love. He was an exceptional human being—open-minded and warm-hearted—with a dose of humor on the side. He was a kind and protective brother to his siblings; a reliable buddy to his friends; and a lifelong fishing partner to many.

Paul chose Wisconsin to be his life-long home because he loved it here. He eventually moved from Milwaukee to Black River Falls where he made a home with his mother and his younger brother. The three of them ran a tight ship, maintaining the home and property. Paul excelled in projects—both at home and at work—that required problem-solving and mechanical skills.

Professionally, Paul drove truck both locally and cross-country. He developed strong skills at an early age and valued the mentoring he received from others. In addition to driving for J&K Trucking, Paul also worked as a machinist at Nelson, followed by MECC. He worked hard to “pay back” the mentoring he himself had received by working as an instructor and trainer. He had a knack for guiding others.

Paul had many dear friends who shared in his life experiences and adventures. Together, they enjoyed many concerts and sporting events (Go Brewers! Go Packers!). He cherished the network of friends he built in Black River Falls: Dustin, Bernie, Cory, Chris, Travis, and many others. Paul and his “posse” shared many interests…and lots of humor and music!

Like so many others in his family, Paul really loved music—and he was good at it! Whether it was skillfully playing his beloved guitar, going to concerts with mom and friends, or taking the lead as the DJ when entertaining friends, music always brought joy to his world.

Paul was also incredibly talented when it came to fixing things. He could fix anything and he was always up for the challenge when it came to “saving” an old stove, refrigerator, washer, or dryer. He was persistent in finding solutions. There were no new appliances for mom and friends when Paul could find a perfectly “good” one that was salvageable!

Quick-witted and a great storyteller, Paul loved to make people laugh and feel happy. His deep, booming laugh was its own type of music to his family and loved ones. It brought both joy and comfort to those around him. Paul will be missed dearly and forever remembered by all those whose lives he touched. “So long for now,” our dear Paul. We love you.

Visitation will be held at Max A. Sass & Sons - Oklahoma Chapel, 1515 W. Oklahoma Ave., Milwaukee, on Sunday, August 30, from 12:00 PM until the time of service at 1:00 PM. Burial will take place on Monday, August 31, at 12:00 PM at Forest Home Cemetery. Please meet the family directly at the cemetery.
